  1. Foundation of a Farmers Cooperative

 

The purpose of the Cooperative-LibPalm Inc. is to offer farmers a membership. The provision is that they accept the terms and conditions of LibPalm Inc. set forth in the manual. LibPalm Inc. has aimed in its business concept to offer farmers the opportunity to improve their income structure in a sustainable way by establishing these cooperatives to raise living conditions of the farming community. 

 
  2. Green Production

It is our aime with a green production of palm oil utilizing technologies and practices to lessen the impact of production on the environment. LibPalm Inc. will deploy green technologies and practices such as:

  •  Energy from renewable sources. Workers may generate electricity, heat,

        or energy from renewable solar sources for use within LibPalm Inc. facilities. 

  •  Energy efficiency. Workers will utilize specific technologies and                                         practices to improve energy efficiency within LibPalm Inc. facilities.
  • Pollution reduction and removal, greenhouse gas reduction, and recycling.    


Workers will use green technologies and practices to:

  • Reduce or remove the generation or release of pollutants in their operations
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reduce or eliminate the generation of waste materials
  • Collect, reuse, recycle or compost waste materials
  • Natural resources conservation. Workers will use specific technologies and practices to conserve natural resources, such as those related to organic agriculture, land management, and soil, water, or wildlife conservation.


Not only does green manufacturing benefit the environment and benefit the business, but also create new employment and skill sets previously unavailable in rural Liberia.  The focus on recycling and the reduction of waste can benefit their business as a whole and help improve the cleaness of the environment.  

 

The Farmers are our most important partners

 

  • Purchase of raw materials from over 200 organic smallholder farmers, organized in a Cooperative. 
  • Farmers deal directly with LibPalm Inc. for the purchase of their crude oil.  
  • Their fruits are not only estimated but weighed.
  • Payments to Farmers is made immediately after weighing. 
  • The farmers receive a ten percent organic premium on top of the going market price.
  • To increase species diversity, farmers must plant Palm trees in conjunction with other trees. No large monocultures. No de-forestation.
  • Distribution of high-yield oil palm seedlings to our farmers and staff on interest-free loans. 
  • Sales to all groups of customers with own sales organization.
  •  High-Tech machinery and automation when the production stage is important for the high-quality of our product. Efficient and safe technology.
  • Elimination of all harmful substances from the oil through the most modern Tricanter- Centrifuge, Seperator and Filter technology.
  • Co² neutral production process.
  • Electricity for production 60% by Solar Power.Fruit skins, husks, and fibre are used as mulch and fertilizer, thereby returning mineral nutrients and biomass to the soil.
  • Quality according WFP Standard Specification Appendix 3.
  • In regards of sustainability we seek Certifications according “Forum Sustainable Palm Oil” i.e. >Certified organic in accordance with the EU Organic Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007. >ISCC International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. >RSB Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials. >Rainforest Alliance Certification


Training and Education

  • Training and education opportunities also to those who had no or limited access to school facilities.
  • Kindergarden for staff’s children.
  • Once a week lessons for pupils of the staff and neighbors.
  • Agricultural training for Farmers.
  • Vocational training for production staff.
  • Vocational training in Food Technology and Qualitiy Management.
